MAHB signs MOC with UTM to enhance airport operational excellence

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) last week to enhance airport operational excellence.

MAHB said the collaboration involves 15 focus areas within the fields of airport operations, engineering and technology for the continuous improvement and creation of capacity-building opportunities in managing its network of airports through the exchange of expertise, ideas, information, technology and innovation with UTM.

Managing director Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood said the collaboration presents opportunities for commercialisation and development of intellectual property, in addition to the pursuit of operational excellence.

"MAHB can also play a role in contributing to the country’s aspiration to be among the top 20 in the Global Innovation Index by 2030," he said in a statement today.

Previously, in 2018, MAHB and UTM collaborated to develop the Foreign Object Debris Detection System (FODDS) at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), resulting in the successful implementation of various technology transfer and human capital development strategies between the two parties. - Bernama
