Abdul Rahim Hashim is PetChem chairman

PETALING JAYA: Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) has appointed Datuk Dr Abdul Rahim Hashim as chairman effective Jan 1, 2022.

PetChem told Bursa Malaysia that Abdul Rahim, 68, previously had held various senior positions in Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), including as vice-president (VP) of the human resource management division, VP of the gas business and VP of the research and technology division, the post that he held until his retirement in December 2008.

He started his career in the national oil company as an electrical engineer after graduating from the University of Birmingham in 1976. He subsequently rose to managing director and chief executive officer of Petronas Penapisan (Melaka) Sdn Bhd and Malaysian Refining Company Sdn Bhd. He was Universiti Teknologi Petronas vice-chancellor between 2012 and 2017. — Bernama
