MSM’s Prai plant resumes operations


MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s unit in Prai, Penang has received the go-ahead from the Ministry of Health (MoH) to resume its operations.

KUALA LUMPUR: MSM Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s unit in Prai, Penang has received the go-ahead from the Ministry of Health (MoH) to resume its operation after the disinfection to curb spread of Covid-19.

It announced to Bursa Malaysia on Wednesday the approval was given to MSM Prai Bhd on Tuesday after the thorough disinfection was carried out successfully at the premises.

Initially, MSM Prai was ordered to temporarily suspend its operations commencing around 5pm on June 8 to 17 to carry out the disinfection.

“The estimated impact of the temporary suspension based on the initial assessment to the company’s revenue and earnings is less than 5% for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2021.

“The company is also actively pursuing to claim the losses incurred during the suspension from the insurer,” it said.

MSM said it has and will continue to implement and practise strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among its employees.

Previously, MSM Prai had undergone testing over a two-day screening period on June 7 and 8 for all 756 employees at the premises including contract workers, of which over 92% are Malaysians.
