Kossan to settle payment for migrant workers remediation fees this month

KUALA LUMPUR: Glove maker Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd said it will make the full payment of RM25mil in remediation fees to its migrant workers by the end of this month.

The payment was originally targeted to be completed in March 2022.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Kossan announced that it has finalised the remediation of recruitment fees to migrant workers of RM54mil.

It has already paid RM29mil under the programme, which was originally scheduled to be completed in 18 months.

"Kossan has decided to accelerate the payment of the balance remediation fee in a lump sum payment amounting to RM25mil by the end of June 2021," it said.

"Kossan remains committed to upholding responsible recruitment practices in-line with our zero-cost recruitment policy," it added.
