Azhar returns to MRT Corp as chairman


Former FGV Holdings boss Datuk Seri Azhar Abdul Hamid is back at MRT Corp as new chairman.

KUALA LUMPUR: MRT Corp Bhd has appointed Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid as new chairman, marking his return to the company he once helmed as its founding chief executive officer.

His appointment was effective May 11, MRT Corp said in a statement today.

“As the founding CEO of MRT Corp, Datuk Wira Azhar’s experience and knowledge will be invaluable as the organization moves forward to develop the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link Project and the exciting MRT 3 Circle Line project, while at the same time, to complete the MRT Putrajaya Line,” MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said.

Prior to returning to MRT Corp, Azhar was the Chairman of FGV Holdings Bhd from 2017 to April 2021.

Azhar was CEO at MRT Corp between 2011 and 2014. After that we was Group Managing Director of Malakoff Corp, as well President/Group Managing Director and later chairman of Tradewinds Corp Bhd.
