Revitalising the key tourism industry

“The mass vaccination programme sparks a ray of hope for the business events industry.” - Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri

MALAYSIA is rebuilding much of its tourism industry as the country recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic. Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri speaks with award-winning veteran journalist Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai on a number of issues affecting the tourism industry and what are some of the key decisions taken by the government to revitalise the key sector of the Malaysian economy.

There are a lot of positive vibes as mass vaccination programmes are being carried out globally. People see the beginning of the end of the Covid-19 pandemic. The prices of Brent oil and commodities have shot up ahead of a jump in demand for products. Your thoughts?

With the great measures rolled out by the government, the mass vaccination programme sparks a ray of hope for the business events industry as well as the other stakeholders to start leveraging for further operations.

The vaccination programme positions Malaysia stronger than ever in the eyes of the world that Malaysia is a safe destination to carry out business events in the years to come.

This has been further justified as Malaysia bagged the 4th Most Expected Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Destination for the 2020 Award from China MICE Magazine. The award received is highly significant in ensuring encouragement and promotion for the common progress and high-quality development of Malaysia’s business events industry.
