PETALING JAYA: A total of 1,383 employees of furniture manufacturer Lii Hen Industries Bhd who have recovered and are clear of Covid-19 will be allowed to resume work by the Health Ministry.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing, the group said the balance 875 employees will continue to be placed under quarantine and isolation from Jan 16 till Jan 29,2021.

The Covid-19 outbreak among Lii Hen’s foreign workers had caused some delay in the delivery schedules of the furniture manufacturer.

In the Bursa filing, the group said the estimated capacity loss arising from the temporary closure of its subsidiaries’ operations is expected to be increased from 3.5% to 4.6% of the total estimated annual output volume.

“Discussions have been held with the respective customers for the extension of time for delivery and also rescheduled production plan to produce those very urgent orders, ” said the group in the statement.

An enhanced movement control order was imposed on the company’s foreign workers’ dormitories in Muar, Johor from Dec 27,2020 till Jan 15,2021.

They are workers at the group’s subsidiaries.

These are, namely, EF Furniture Sdn Bhd, Kejora Juara Sdn Bhd, CT Haup Heng Sdn Bhd, Lii Hen Furniture Sdn Bhd and Favourite Design Sdn Bhd.

“Following completion of the voluntary screening exercise and the full site disinfection and sanitisation undertaken as well as the return of workforce, each facility of these subsidiaries will resume operations in stages, ” said the group.
