PETALING JAYA: Sunway Bhd’s property arm Sunway Development Pte Ltd has bagged the World Gold Winner in the Residential (Mid Rise) category at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2020 for its Sophia Hills project in Singapore.
The project was jointly developed with Singapore-based property developer Hoi Hup Realty Pte Ltd.
In a joint statement, Sunway and Hoi Hup said the Sophia Hills was the largest development in Singapore’s District 9 comprising 493 units of low-rise condominium sitting atop the undulating ground of Mount Sophia.
The developers have kept the heritage alive with the restoration and integration of three conserved buildings.
Trinity Theological College Chapel, which was built in 1969, has been converted as a restaurant while Olson Building by Frank Wilmin Brewer, built in 1928, now serves as The Sophia Clubhouse while Nan Wah Girl’s School, built in 1941, has been designated as a childcare centre or kindergarten.
Sunway Bhd deputy managing director, property development division (international) Tan Wee Bee said: “Sunway is committed to driving the ambitions of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.
“We are glad that our works in Sophia Hills have preserved the historic character of Mount Sophia as well as giving new lease of life to the architecturally important buildings and neighbourhood.”
The FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Award is one of the highest honours given to outstanding projects.
Awarded by an international panel comprising top real-estate professionals and experts, it recognises projects that best embodies excellence in all the real estate disciplines involved in its creation and overall merit.
