Allianz confirms CEO's resignation from Socso

Allianz Malaysia Bhd CEO Zakri Khir
KUALA LUMPUR: Allianz Malaysia Bhd has confirmed news reports that its CEO, Zakri Khir, has resigned as chairman of the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

In a statement issued by the insurer, Zakri said he had tendered his resignation, with immediate effect, to Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M Saravanan this morning.

He added that he had considered his appointment to Socso an act of national service to the country.

"But with any new government, there will come changes and I am of the opinion that my services are no longer required.

“I have done my best and am grateful for all the support received and that I was given the privilege to serve the government for the last 16 months,” he said

Zakri was appointed chairman of Socso by the Council of Eminent Persons on Oct 8, 2018. He noted that he was chosen for the role due to his 30-year experience in the insurance industry.

Citing sources, an online news portal reported that Sabak Bernam MP Datuk Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh had been picked as Zakri's successor.
