Kossan to provide 5m pieces of gloves to China

KUALA LUMPUR: Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd will provide five million pieces of medical gloves and 500,000 pieces of face masks to China following the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

Its group managing director and CEO Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia said the company was working and coordinating with MARGMA, ACCIM, MTCC and other organisations to transport two million out of the five million pieces of medical gloves to Hubei, Guangdong and other provinces in China.

In a statement issued on Thursday, he said the rest of the gloves would be transported in batches.

“These PureShield medical gloves conform to the GB10213-2006 standard in accordance with the China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) (formerly known as CFDA) requirements for hospital-use, ” Lim said.

He said on Jan 27, its Chinese employees under DongGuan Cleanera Cleanroom Products Co. Ltd. returned to work to start producing face masks.

Within the same week, CEDG donated 500,000 pieces of face masks to the Dongguan municipal government.

“Our thoughts continue to be with all those in China dealing with the impact related to the outbreak, ” Lim added.

He said Kossan would also make available in stages, 20 million pieces of medical gloves (10 million pairs) specifically for the public in the China region beginning Feb 24,2020.
