Quick take: PJBumi surges 23% in early trade

KUALA LUMPUR: Shares in PJBumi Bhd attracted investors’ interest in early trade Wednesday although the company has not made any major corporate announcements.

The counter, one of the top gainers on Bursa Malaysia, jumped 22.92%, or 5.5 sen to 29.5 sen. It is currently trading at a PE ratio of 75.47 times. PJBumi-WA surged 120%, or three sen to 5.5 sen.

The company has not made any corporate announcements recently. Its last announcement on Bursa Malaysia was made in August, reporting its second quarterly results.

In the second quarter ended June 30, PJBumi posted a net profit of RM320,000 against RM30,000 in the same period last year. Its revenue for the period rose to RM3.25mil from RM1.05mil perviously.

In the first six months, PJBumi posted a net profit of RM390,000 against a net loss of RM449,000 last year. Revenue for the period stood at RM7.95mil from RM2.15mil previously.
