KUALA LUMPUR: Shopee, Southeast Asia and Taiwan’s leading e-commerce platform, is seeing an increase in male shoppers’ activity on its app as more males are getting their products online.
In a statement, Shopee said the its mobile and accessories category remained the most visited category by male shoppers for purchase of laptops to accessories like waterproof earphones, car dash cams, gaming devices, power banks, and Micro SD memory cards.
It disclosed that smartphones like the Realme 2 Pro, honor 9 Lite and honor 8x were snapped up in minutes during their exclusive launches in 2018.
“Mobile and gadgets shopping activities increased by up to 10% between 8pm and 9pm, which points to male users preferring to purchase their mobile gadgets and accessories after work hours,” Shopee said
It added that many were also willing to spend more than RM400 on timepieces, not just for themselves but also for their girlfriends, sisters and wives as women’s watches were recorded as one of the most purchased products by male shoppers.
“Shopee sees is an increase in orders for pomades, teeth whitening powder, cologne and even facial masks, making the Health and Beauty category the second highest category visited by male shoppers,” it said.
Shoppe also disclosed that men were starting to rely on tech to get house chores done for them as they spend on big-tickets items like robot vacuum cleaners that can cost upwards from RM1,050.
