Glut in cement and cost pressures weigh on Lafarge


Crowded market: Lafarge is not the only one affected, as the overall domestic cement industry is still grappling with intense pressure on pricing due to an oversupply situation.

A SUPPLY glut in the cement industry and cost pressures have continued to depress Lafarge Malaysia Bhd’s earnings in recent times.

The largest cement producer in Malaysia, which posted three consecutive quarterly losses, is expected to sink into the red in its current financial year 2017 (FY17).
