Ringgit opens slightly higher against greenback


At 9 am(0100gmt), the local unit was quoted at 4.2820/2870 to the US dollar from 4.2855/2885 on Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened slightly higher against the US dollar today as traders remained optimistic ahead of Malaysia's Budget 2018 announcement scheduled for Friday, dealers said.

At 9.05am, the local unit was traded at 4.2310/2350 versus the US dollar from 4.2360/2390 on Monday.

The ringgit, however, was traded lower against other major currencies.

The local note weakened against the yen to 3.7330/7375 from yesterday's 3.7174/7204 and declined against the euro to 4.9748/9804 from 4.9709/9749 on Monday.

It fell against the Singapore dollar to 3.1097/1133 from 3.1069/1103 on Monday and depreciated against the British pound to 5.5887/5944 from 5.5771/5828 yesterday. - Bernama
