Pos Malaysia and Tigers Global Logistics team up

DRB-Hicom's disposals would enable it to consolidate its logistics business under Pos Malaysia.

KUALA LUMPUR: Pos Malaysia Bhd and Tigers Global Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd have signed a collaboration agreement to offer Malaysia's first cross-border e-fulfilment business solutions within the Asia-Pacific.

Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh said this would benefit the company as it would have the mandate to manage the entire supply chain process, including Customs clearance, product handling, pick and pack as well as the last-mile delivery.

"Under the collaboration, Tigers would be responsible for the continuous investment in hardware, network and systems to enable Pos Malaysia to operate its business in a timely and effective manner," he said at the signing of the collaboration agreement in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Shukrie signed for Pos Malaysia and Tigers was represented by Tigers Ltd group managing director and CEO Andrew Jillings.

Tigers is a global logistics and transportation company that specialises in supply chain solutions, e-fulfilment and transportation by air, sea and road.

Concurrently, Shukrie said, the collaboration agreement would also see the establishment of a regional e-fulfilment hub in the country.

The hub, located close to the KL International Airport (KLIA)'s low-cost carrier terminal in Sepang, was expected to benefit both international and local e-Commerce players and customers in 30 countries in the Asia-Pacific, he said.

"The collaboration aligns with the company's vision of becoming a complete end-to-end e-fulfilment service provider.

"This initiative is expected to generate new business streams in e-commerce fulfilment business and we hope to capitalise on the double-digit growth of the e-commerce industry of between 15% and 20% in the coming years," he said.

Shukrie said the regional e-fulfilment hub would enable the company to provide reliable delivery of parcels at competitive price with a high-level support for warehousing management and packet and parcel preparation.

"The collaboration is also timely as Pos Malaysia has just received a shot in the arm for its e-fulfilment business as it has just sealed its position as the local partner in developing the e-fulfilment hub of the newly-launched Digital Free Trade Zone," he said.

He said Pos Malaysia, as well as its partners, would gain from the influx of trade as the hub was strategically located in KLIA.

"It is equipped with the best aviation and Customs clearance facilities, compared to other players in the same industry," he said. - Bernama
