TPPA gives competitive edge to signatories, says top official


KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand and Indonesia’s actions to rethink their initial decision to not join the Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) shows that the agreement gives countries who signed it an ample competitive edge over those which did not.

At an Invest Malaysia 2016 forum called TPPA: A Game Changer, Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s deputy secretary-general Datuk J. Jayasiri said that he believes the private sector in those two other Asean countries have been pressuring the government to do so.
