Celcom aims to double postpaid subscriber base with new plans


KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd aims to double its postpaid subscriber base following the launch of the First Blue and First Gold postpaid plans on Tuesday.

Citing the Merdeka plans that were introduced in August this year, its chief marketing officer Zalman Zainal said the customer volume of the plans had grown by more than 50% compared to the plans that were introduced earlier this year.

“With this, we hope the number could be doubled,” he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur after launching the new plans.

As of the second quarter ended August this year, Celcom had 12.34 million subscribers, comprising 9.5 million prepaid and 2.84 million postpaid subscribers.

At RM45 per month, First Blue offers 2GB of monthly internet; 2GB of free internet on Saturday and Sunday; 2GB of free Celcom Wifi; unlimited music from Yonder Music; 50 minutes of free calls and 50 SMS messages to all networks; carryforward of up to 2GB of unused internet; extended credit limit of RM250; auto debit of 5% savings on the monthly bill, as well as Club privileges.

For the First Gold plan, customers paying RM100 monthly could enjoy 4GB of monthly internet; 4GB of free internet on Saturday and Sunday; 4GB of free Celcom Wifi; unlimited music from Yonder Music; 100 minutes of free calls and 100 SMS to all network; carryforward of up to 4GB of unused internet; extended credit limit of RM500; auto debit of five per cent savings on the montly bill, as well as Club privileges. - Bernama
