KUALA LUMPUR: MDeC Americas Inc has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Palo Alto Research Centre (PARC) to enable Multimedia Super Corridor Malaysia companies leverage on Silicon Valley’s innovative ecosystem to create new and enhanced intellectual property (IP).
MDeC Americas, an entity under the Multimedia Development Corp (MDeC), was tasked to spearhead MDeC’s presence in the US and enhance the Malaysia’s digital transformation.
In a statement, MDeC said the collaboration would offer MSC companies insights into PARC’s key research areas, patents and IP licensing models plus opportunities to work with PARC research scientists and officers.
MDeC chief executive officer, Datuk Yasmin Mahmood, said the collaboration would also provide opportunities for MSC companies to find suitable commercialisation partners.
“This strategic partnership is very much aligned with the aspiration of Digital Malaysia programme by putting people in the center of technology and strengthening our goal of becoming the tech hub for the Asean region.
“Malaysia is an ideal base to gain a foothold in the region and a conducive launch pad for digital investors and innovators to capture market share across Asean,” she said.
PARC had pioneered many technology platforms ranging from the Ethernet and laser printing to the Graphical User Interface and ubiquitous computing, which enabled the creation of many industries. - Bernama
