Mueller to take over current Malaysia Airlines earlier on May 1 (Update)

KUALA LUMPUR: Christoph Mueller will take over from Ahmad Jauhari Yahya as the managing director/new chief executive officer of Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) from May 1.

Ahmad Jauhari is the current CEO of MAS but he will step down earlier than June 30.

Those in the know say he will leave MAS by April 30.

They said this will give Mueller time to get into the day to day running of the existing airline before taking over as the new CEO of the new MAS.

Mueller joined the airline on March 1.

In a statement, MAS sole shareholder Khazanah Nasional Bhd announced it had approved a request from MAS's board of directors for the accelerated appointments of Mueller and for consequent variations related to conditions for the MAS restructuring set by Khazanah previously.
