How to ruin a resignation

Azhar has repeatedly told reporters and colleagues that he had failed to deliver safety in MRT worksites and resigning was therefore the right thing to do.

THERE had been no plans for this column to dwell further on the resignation of Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd CEO Datuk Wira Azhar Abdul Hamid.

Last week’s article (The right way to quit, Aug 23) discussed Azhar’s words and conduct to support the view that he had acted appropriately by stepping down soon after the death of three workers in a worksite incident. He has made his point, and so has this column (although in a far less dramatic and emphatic fashion).
