KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s largest white coffee café chain, Oldtown White Coffee has earned its Halal status from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia in all 168 stores in Peninsular Malaysia in hopes of tapping the Muslim market.
Its Non-Executive chairman Datuk Ahmed Tasir said the company aims to expand its Muslim customer base as 80% of its customers were non-Muslims.
“Ultimately, we want to capture the Malay market in Malaysia,” he said.
He added with signs of growing demand for Halal products, there is clearly a huge demand for Muslim patrons looking to dine in restaurants that comply with the Halal certification standards in Malaysia.”
