VEGOILS-Market factors to watch Oct 22 Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: The following factors are likely to influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on Monday.

FUNDAMENTALS

* Malaysian palm oil futures rose on Friday, with market players confident of a recovery in demand thanks to strong Malaysian exports in the first half of the month and a major festival next month.

* U.S. soybean futures lost more ground on Monday with investors unwinding their speculative positions amid forecasts of record supplies from South America early next year and concerns over global economic growth.

* Brent crude prices fell on Friday for the fourth straight session, dragged down by fresh global economic concerns and expectations a major Canadian crude oil pipeline to the United States would restart on schedule.

MARKET NEWS

* World stocks and crude oil fell on Friday as investors took a dim view of U.S. corporate earnings after General Electric and McDonald's disappointed, while Europe's debt crisis and ongoing concerns about global growth also weighed on sentiment.

* Copper had its biggest drop in six months on Friday and oil tumbled, too, as global economic uncertainties rose and the dollar rallied, making raw materials priced in the currency less affordable for euro holders.
