More cross-border investments


OVER the last few years, a slew of liberalisation measures have been introduced to transform the competitive unit trust industry. For example, the public can now withdraw a certain portion of their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings to invest in unit trust funds.

Part of the liberalisation also saw the Government ease rules on local funds investing outside the country. Unit trust managers are now allowed to invest 50% of net asset value of funds overseas.
