MSC returns to the black

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Smelting Corp Bhd (MSC) returned to the black with a net profit of RM28.27mil on revenue of RM737.87mil for the first quarter ended March 31, 2011.

The improvement was attributable to higher operating profits by its tin mining and smelting operations in Malaysia and Indonesia due mainly to higher tin prices. In the corresponding quarter last year, MSC posted a net loss of RM29.13mil on revenue of RM651.18mil.
