LONDON: BP Plc failed to dispel doubts about its future yesterday as its long-awaited return to a dividend payout was tainted by weaker-than-expected profits and a new charge for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
The shares dropped 1.9% to 476 pence by 0921 GMT, putting it among the biggest losers in the blue-chip FTSE 100 index.
