THE simple act of rubber tapping may be insignificant but continuous loss of tapping days can lead to severe reduction in the world’s natural rubber (NR) production.
The trend now indicates that the current heavy rainfall is the culprit leading to poor tapping activities among smallholders, who are the backbone in the world’s NR output of over 9 million tonnes annually.
