IPOH: The RM1bil Sunway City Ipoh project on 520ha in Tambun here has now reached a development asset value of RM400mil, Sunway City Bhd senior general manager Ong Pang Yen said.
He said about RM300mil had been invested so far in the development of housing and commercial properties.
Sunway City Ipoh was targeted to be the housing, recreation and tourism hub of the East Ipoh Corridor in particular and Peninsular Malaysia in general, he added.
The company was working with the state government and Public Works Department for a slip road to connect the area with the East-West Highway, Ong said. “This is still at the discussion stage,” he told Bernama.
Ong said Sunway City planned to construct an “extreme park” in the area with joint investment from a Kuala Lumpur-based company.
The centre, estimated to cost RM6mil, is expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year and will be equipped with a futsal arena, badminton courts, go-kart racing course, paintball area and other facilities for extreme sports.
The project is a 65:35 joint venture between Sunway City and the Perak Government.
When completed in 2010, Sunway City Ipoh is expected to have, among other things, a water theme park, hotel, commercial centre and private college. – Bernama
