KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit will further strengthen against the US dollar well into next year as it catches up with regional currencies which have appreciated even faster against the greenback in recent months, said the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (Mier).

Its executive director Dr Mohamed Ariff Abdul Kareem said the ringgit, which traded at 3.711 to the dollar yesterday, was still undervalued although it had appreciated 2.3% against the dollar between Jan 2 and Oct 9.
