KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) expects its RM80mil acquisition of the card business of American Express (Amex) in Malaysia to increase its share of the card payment services market from 21% to 25%, said president and chief executive officer Datuk Amirsham A. Aziz.

“This will allow Maybank to be the largest card payment services provider in Malaysia with close to 1.3 million cards issued,” he said yesterday after a signing ceremony to mark the completion of the business transfer agreement (BTA) between Amex and Maybank.
