BEIJING: Five foreign makers of luxury goods, including Gucci and Prada, have sued a prominent Beijing shopping mall known as a source for pirated copies of designer clothes, shoes and other goods, a news report said Thursday.

The lawsuit against Silk Street and five stallholders in the mall seeks 2.5 million yuan (US$300,000; euro250,000) in compensation, the China Daily newspaper said. It said the plaintiffs are the owners of the Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, Prada and Louis Vuitton brands.
