NEW YORK: Martha Stewart has resigned as a board member and officer of her namesake company, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc, which is reeling from the home decorating expert’s conviction on charges of lying about a suspicious stock sale.

Stewart’s resignation had been seen as almost a certainty by analysts because she is now a convicted felon and faces a possible prison term. But she would remain involved with the company she founded in the non-executive post of founding editorial director and would be the author of two new books on homemaking and baking, the company said.
