The Securities Commission (SC) is seeking to get more bite in its pursuit of suspects in cases that fall under the Securities Industry Act 1983 (SIA). This is in light of the difficulties it currently faces in completing its investigation of companies believed to have breached the act.

SC chairman Datuk Ali Abdul Kadir said the commission was in discussion with various authorities to seek more legal clout to investigate suspects. It also aims to promote greater integration with various government departments in probing cases involving public listed companies (PLCs).
