ASK any punter and they would not disagree that the equity markets these days are quite treacherous. With the Footsie hovering around the 3,400 level – half the average daily volumes of shares traded in London – the low prices have burnt a huge hole in the pockets or purses of investors.
The big boys have not been spared, what with the daily moans and groans of pension funds about dwindling funds, no thanks to three years of falling prices that have knocked confidence badly.
