VISA International, which attained a 30% increase in card sales volume in Malaysia for the first nine months of 2002, is confident of at least maintaining the figure, if not surpassing it, this year, said June Seah, Visa International's senior manager for Asia-Pacific.

“With total card spend in Malaysia for the first nine months of 2002 totalling RM18.2bil, the RM9.61bil attained by Visa gives us a 53% market share in Malaysia over other payment brands and makes us the market leader,” Seah said, adding that she was also expecting 30% growth in card-holders this year.
