VIENTIANE: Laos is set to benefit from more air links with neighbouring countries and regional travel hubs, with new and expanded services connecting Vientiane and Luang Prabang with Phnom Penh, Singapore and Bangkok.

The new flights will provide more travel options for businesspeople, tourists and officials, supporting trade, tourism and general people-to-people links.

Air Cambodia, the national airline of Cambodia, will launch direct flights between Phnom Penh and Vientiane from Dec 15, 2026, operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, according to Aero Laos and Air Cambodia.

The new route between the two capital cities will bolster both business and tourism between Laos and Cambodia.

Meanwhile, Scoot, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is increasing its services between Singapore and Vientiane from three to five flights a week starting on October 25.

The new services are aimed at meeting growing travel demand and improving connectivity between Laos and other ASEAN countries, particularly for tourists and business operators.

The planned increase in flights follows recent telephone talks between Lao Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Under the new schedule, flights between Singapore and Vientiane will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with additional services on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights depart Singapore at 10am and arrive in Vientiane at noon, while return flights leave Vientiane at 12.35pm and arrive in Singapore at 4.55pm.

On Tuesdays and Saturdays, flights depart Singapore at 4pm and arrive in Vientiane at 6.05pm. Return flights leave Vientiane at 6.40pm and arrive in Singapore at 11pm. All times are local, with Singapore one hour ahead of Laos.

Lao Airlines has also resumed flights between Luang Prabang and Bangkok from October 26, offering services four days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flights from Luang Prabang depart at 7.40am and arrive in Bangkok at 9.40am, while return flights leave Bangkok at 10.20am and arrive in Luang Prabang at 12.20pm.
