The sarong, also a pride of Nusantara, and Siti Khadijah celebrate the culture with “Bersarong Gaya Kita” at Keretapi Sarong 2026

Siti Khadijah, a brand offering telekung, apparel and essentials for the whole family, joins the cultural celebration marking Malaysia Day at Keretapi Sarong 2026 (KS26) on Sept 16.

Following its inaugural participation in 2024. This year, Siti Khadijah is making a more vibrant contribution through a range of activities at Kajang MRT Station, while also setting up an exhibition space at the Keretapi Sarong finale venue in TRX.

Interestingly, Siti Khadijah is reviving the spirit of “Bersarong Gaya Kita”, first introduced in 2024, through its Suri and Pelikat sarong collections.

In line with the theme of the Malaysia Day celebrations, this collection highlights a classic and minimalist sarong style, reflecting the identity and style of Malaysians who are deeply connected to local heritage and culture.

At Kajang MRT Station, a variety of engaging activities were lined up starting as early as 7:30 a.m. Organized in collaboration with Locco and Sarong Squad, the event was enlivened by traditional dance performances from the Antava Project, performances by students from SK Kajang, and a silat demonstration by the BinMansor community.

In keeping with the spirit of fostering unity and celebrating the diversity of Malaysia's cultural heritage, the SITI KHADIJAH exhibition space at the main venue also features various traditional games in which visitors can participate.

Attractive prizes and exclusive items from Siti Khadijah are provided as a token of appreciation to visitors who attend and enliven the event.

This edition of Keretapi Sarong 2026 also marks the 10th anniversary of the event, which continues to serve as a vital platform for uniting the community through the appreciation of Malaysian culture and heritage.

The 2026 Keretapi Sarong event involves 10 cities across the country, including three new locations: Padang Besar, Langkawi, and Kuching.

The Keretapi Sarong programme was introduced by the non-governmental organisation Random Alphabet in 2012 before being taken over and continued by Locco in 2017.

Every year, thousands of participants join Keretapi Sarong by wearing sarongs—such as batik or pelikat—while using public transport, as an effort to promote and appreciate traditional attire as part of the Malaysian identity and a symbol of unity among the people. 

As a local brand deeply connected to the Malaysian community, the outfit's participation in Keretapi Sarong 2026 reflects its ongoing commitment to celebrating cultural diversity and championing local heritage through styles that are modern, comfortable, and relevant to contemporary lifestyles.

Through the “Bersarong Gaya Kita” spirit, Siti Khadijah hopes that the sarong will continue to be celebrated as part of the Malaysian lifestyle and identity.
