Australia charges Russian-Australian man with foreign interference


SYDNEY: Australian police said Friday (Aug 21) they had charged a dual Russian and Australian national with attempting to engage in intentional foreign interference.

The man, 27, was arrested on Thursday following an investigation by the Counter Foreign Interference Taskforce and will appear in court in Brisbane, federal police said in a statement.

Federal police commissioner Krissy Barrett will share more details with the media at 2pm (0400 GMT).

The crime of intentional foreign interference carries a penalty of 20 years' imprisonment in Australia. - AFP
