Southwest monsoon brings heavy rainfall over Luzon, yellow warning issued


The state weather bureau has released a heavy rainfall warning at 2pm on Aug. 13, 2026. — Pagasa

MANILA: Heavy rainfall continues to affect many areas in Luzon on Thursday (Aug 13) afternoon, due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, the state weather bureau said.

In an advisory issued at 2pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised a yellow warning, indicating 7.5 to 15mm of rainfall are expected within the next three hours, over the following areas:

Bataan

Metro Manila

Cavite

Zambales

Batangas

Laguna

Bulacan

Pampanga

Pagasa advised the public to take precautionary measures on possible flash floods and landslides that may occur during severe weather events.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are also being experienced over 25 areas in Laguna, 13 areas in Batangas, 22 areas in Quezon province, nine areas in Rizal, 13 areas in Bulacan, 17 areas in Pampanga, six areas in Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales.

The weather bureau warned that similar weather conditions may affect nearby localities and may persist within the next three hours.

Pagasa earlier said in the 5am weather advisory that the southwest monsoon will continue to affect Luzon, while fair weather conditions are likely to prevail over parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
