HANOI: Vietnam aims to train or update the basic AI skills for at least 10 million workers by 2030 under a national programme on AI human resources development, local daily Nhan Dan reported Wednesday (Aug 12).

The programme, approved by Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau on Tuesday, aims to develop a workforce to meet the demand of strategic technology sectors and strengthen national technological self-reliance.

It targets the training and upskilling of 10,000 highly qualified and specialised AI professionals, including at least 1,500 experts capable of researching and mastering core technologies and leading key AI tasks.

To achieve these targets, the programme sets out several groups of tasks focusing on improving institutions, developing AI experts, expanding AI education and reskilling, linking training with businesses and the labour market, and developing infrastructure, data and practical training environments.

By 2035, Vietnam aims to rank among the leading countries in the region in AI human resources development capacity, said the report. - Xinhua
