TOKYO: A landslide that occurred Saturday night (Aug 8) in Nagano Prefecture, central Japan, has left around 390 people stranded, local media reported Sunday.
The landslide cut off the only road leading to the Nakabusa Onsen hot spring mountain resort in Azumino City, with earth and debris making it impassable, Kyodo News reported.
Several lodging facilities are located in the affected hot spring area, which is also a popular trailhead. Those stranded include hotel guests as well as hikers staying at a mountain hut, the report said, citing police. No injuries have been reported so far.
It is currently unclear when the road will be reopened, and prefectural officials have headed to the site to continue assessing the situation. - Xinhua
