Maaedicare Charitable Foundation successfully hosted its annual fundraising gala, A Night of Hope & Healing: Shine a Light, Save a Life, bringing together corporate partners, donors, distinguished guests and supporters in a shared commitment to ensuring quality healthcare remains accessible to Malaysians in need.
A total of RM700,000 was collected during the night.
Funds raised from the gala will support the Foundation’s charitable healthcare initiatives, including subsidised dialysis treatment, patient assistance programmes, the replacement of ageing dialysis machines, affordable cardiac diagnostic services, free primary healthcare through Klinik Amal Percuma, and community-based Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) screening programmes that promote early detection and prevention.
The Foundation which began in December 1994 will also be celebrating its 32nd anniversary soon and since they very beginning it has been helping countless people in Malaysia in overcoming their health issues.
Chairman of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, Tunku Datuk Yaacob Khyra, highlighted that Malaysia’s evolving healthcare landscape requires charitable healthcare organisations to move beyond treating illness and place greater emphasis on prevention, early intervention and sustainable healthcare delivery.
“Healthcare today is no longer solely about treating illness after it occurs. It is about investing in prevention, expanding access to quality care and ensuring that financial hardship never becomes a barrier to essential healthcare. Every contribution made tonight strengthens our ability to respond to Malaysia’s evolving healthcare needs while remaining steadfast in our commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care,” he said.
He also highlighted the Foundation’s continued commitment to clinical excellence and innovation, including the implementation of ultrasound-guided cannulation across all eleven dialysis centres, reinforcing Maaedicare’s belief that affordability should never come at the expense of quality healthcare.
The Malaysian Red Crescent Society also applauded the Foundation's efforts in helping people and hopes that more people will come forward to help the poor through this organization.
Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, the National Chairman of The Malaysian Red Crescent Society, said both organisations are in one mind in helping the poor with free clinics and dialysis centres.
"It is very heartwarming Maaedicare has been doing what they have been doing for so many decades. It always great to see the Malysian Red Crescent working with such wonderful and dedicated people. And I sincerely hope that more and more Malaysians come out and help ud in giving a hand to the poor," said Tunku Puteri Intan.
Chief Executive Officer of Maaedicare Charitable Foundation, Anne Rajasaikaran, said every contribution made during the gala would have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of patients and their families.
“Every contribution made this evening represents far more than financial support. It helps a patient continue life-saving dialysis, access essential medication, travel to treatment and receive the care they need with dignity. More importantly, it gives hope to individuals and families facing one of life’s most difficult journeys,” she said.
Anne added that Maaedicare’s commitment to accessible kidney care continues today, with almost 770 active dialysis patients receiving treatment across eleven charity dialysis centres in nine states. Over the past decade, the Foundation has delivered more than 1.2 million dialysis treatments, while its Cardiac Diagnostic Centre has recorded more than 13,000 patient visits and its three Klinik Amal Percuma collectively serve approximately 8,000 patients annually.
“In recent years, we have strengthened our focus on preventive healthcare through affordable cardiac diagnostic services, community-based CKD screening programmes and the establishment of our third Klinik Amal Percuma in Nilai. These initiatives reflect our belief that healthcare should not begin only when illness becomes critical, but through early detection, timely intervention and accessible primary care,” she said.
The gala was graced by Her Highness Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz, Tunku Temenggong Kedah, and P. Prabakaran, Member of Parliament for Batu. Also in attendance were Datuk Dr. Thirunavukarasu Rajoo, President of the Malaysian Medical Association, Datuk Dr. Kuljit Singh, President of the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia, together with corporate partners, sponsors, donors and distinguished guests.
