YANGON: Three factory workers were found dead inside a fish oil storage tank at the Zhengbang Myanmar animal feed factory in Bago’s Otha New Town Industrial Zone (2), authorities said.

The incident occurred on Monday (July 13) evening at the factory in Ward 8, where the workers were carrying out operations involving fish oil used in the production of poultry and pig feed. Their bodies were discovered inside a steel tank measuring approximately 10 feet high, 8 feet wide, and 15 feet deep.

The deceased were identified as Aung Lin Oo, Chan Thar, and Wai Yan Soe.

According to a source close to the security authorities, the factory’s maintenance technician, Ye Lin Thu, attempted to contact Aung Lin Oo via the factory’s intercom system at around 5pm while the workers were on duty.

After receiving no response, he went to inspect the fish oil tank and found all three workers unconscious inside.

The technician, together with other factory employees, recovered the three men from the tank, but they were already dead, the source said.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the deaths.

The bodies were transported by ambulance to the morgue at Bago General Hospital for post-mortem examinations. - Eleven Media/ANN
