Teenager in life-threatening condition after being stabbed at Australian school


SYDNEY: A teenage boy has been hospitalised with life-threatening injuries after he was stabbed at a school in the Australian state of Queensland on Tuesday.

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) said in a statement that the 17-year-old boy was injured in an altercation with a second teenage boy known to him at a school in the state capital of Brisbane around 11:45 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Officers were initially unable to locate the second boy, aged 16, but he was found a short time later in a vehicle and is assisting police with inquiries, the QPS said.

The QPS said there was no ongoing threat to the public.- Xinhua
