Rockestra 5.0 & Rock Fest return: Igniting Malaysia’s Rock Legacy at Panggung Anniversari in KL

Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will organise Rockestra 5.0 and Festival Rock from 17 to 19 July 2026 at Panggung Anniversari, Perdana Botanical Gardens.

This large-scale festival brings together musical performances, cultural heritage, the creative community, and arts appreciation under one event.

The programme is one of the main highlights of Semarak Seni @ Panggung Anniversari 2026, an initiative aimed at revitalising Panggung Anniversari as an open-air arts venue where artists, musicians, creative communities and the public can enjoy quality performances in the heart of the capital.

The festival’s main highlight, Rockestra 5.0, will take place on Saturday, 18 July 2026, beginning at 8.30 p.m. The concert presents a unique concept that combines the distinctive power of rock music with symphonic arrangements.

More than 60 musicians from the Kuala Lumpur Orchestra will perform alongside a line-up of renowned rock vocalists, presenting timeless songs in a new dimension that is more epic, dramatic and orchestral, while preserving the original identity of Malaysian rock music.

This free concert will feature Muzza, Pasya, Pat Candy, Lan Solo, CDNaz, King Shah of Metalasia, and Ca-ah, with Isma Halil Hamzah hosting the nearly three-hour event.

Meanwhile, Festival Rock, which will run from 17 to 19 July 2026, will offer a variety of exciting activities, including performances by rock artists and bands, forums, talk sessions, community exhibitions, merchandise sales and interactive activities highlighting the history, evolution and legacy of Malaysian rock music.

The festival will also provide the public with an opportunity to experience the behind-the-scenes preparations for a major concert through the Rockestra 5.0 soundcheck session. It will also bring fans closer to the artists, musicians and communities that have long contributed to the local music industry.

More than just an entertainment festival, the event serves as a platform that unites older and younger generations in appreciating the journey of Malaysian rock music. At the same time, it strengthens the creative community through the sharing of knowledge and experience, as well as a deeper appreciation of local artistic works.

Panggung Anniversari itself holds significant historical value in the development of the country’s music industry. This iconic venue has hosted numerous legendary artists and bands that have shaped Malaysia’s musical landscape.

Through Rockestra 5.0 and Festival Rock, this legacy will continue to be strengthened through an approach that is fresher, more inclusive and relevant to today’s generation.

The organisation of this event reflects DBKL’s continued commitment to advancing the arts, culture and creative industries, in line with its aspiration to establish Kuala Lumpur as a city that is not only physically developed, but also enriched by cultural activities, heritage and a dynamic arts scene.

Members of the public are invited to attend and enliven Rockestra 5.0 and Festival Rock. Admission is free.
