Myanmar opens upgraded Anisakan airport to boost tourism and trade

MANDALAY: Myanmar has opened the upgraded Anisakan Airport in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay region, as part of efforts to improve connectivity, attract more tourists and support the local economy.

President U Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony on Saturday.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe, the airport's opening is one of the key achievements under the government's 100-day plan and will serve as an important piece of infrastructure in advancing Pyin Oo Lwin's development.

The new airport is also expected to strengthen tourism links between Pyin Oo Lwin and the Shan Yoma region, promote domestic tourism, facilitate the transportation of local fruits, flowers and agricultural products to other parts of the country, and contribute to regional economic growth.

The upgraded Anisakan Airport has the capacity to serve up to 1,000 passengers per day and features passenger lounges, service facilities and a runway built to the required standards.

Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe said the airport will play a key role in boosting regional tourism, improving connectivity, easing the transport of local products and supporting the area's long-term economic development - Eleven Media/ANN
