NEW DELHI: A man accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case allegedly killed six people, including the minor complainant, in Telangana’s Rangareddy district before fleeing.
Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused, who was out on bail in the earlier case.
The victims include the minor girl, her mother and grandmother, along with the accused’s wife and two children.
The killings took place on Friday (July 10) night under the jurisdiction of the Shabad police station, according to police.
Six killed across two families in Rangareddy
Police identified the accused as Raju Kumar, 35. Investigators said he allegedly attacked the minor complainant and two members of her family before killing his own wife and two children.
According to police, the accused later telephoned his family members and claimed he had killed members of both families. He also allegedly told them he intended to end his own life.
His relatives informed the police after receiving the call.
Accused remains absconding
A police official said the accused has not yet been arrested, and efforts are underway to locate him.
"Yesterday, Raju Kumar, 35, an accused in a POCSO case, allegedly killed six people. The victims include the minor girl, her mother, her grandmother, his wife, and two children.
"After committing the crime, he informed his parents, who then alerted the police. We are currently investigating the matter and searching for the accused.
"The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary for post-mortem examination," the official said.
Police said the accused had earlier been booked under the POCSO Act and was out on bail at the time of the incident.
The minor victim’s family lived in Shahbad, while the accused is a native of Raiwalaguda.
