Several feared trapped after building collapses in Maharashtra, India


NEW DELHI: Several people were feared trapped under debris after a building collapsed in the Moshi area of Pimpri Chinchwad in Maharashtra on Wednesday (July 8) afternoon.

Emergency response team, including fire brigade and police, rushed to the spot after a large portion of the administrative block of the Waste-to-Energy project of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation building collapsed.

According to reports, the building was located next to a waste mound and due to heavy rains, the mound came down and hit the building like a landslide.

Following the incident, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner and Police Commissioner reached the spot to take stock of the reacue operation. - The Statesman/ANN
