‘You left me on my birthday…I loved you so much’: Pune girl’s Instagram story after allegedly killing fiancé

NEW DELHI: Shortly after allegedly killing her 26-year-old fiance Ketan Vishal Agarwal, Pune girl Siya Goyal had shared an emotional story on Instagram in an apparent attempt to hide her crime.

Siya and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary had allegedly pushed Ketan down into a valley at Pune’s iconic Lohagad Fort on June 18.

Ketan, a businessman, had gone to the fort to celebrate Siya’s birthday, unaware of her evil intentions. The couple had got engaged in February, with a lavish marriage planned for November this year.

After allegedly killing her fiancé, Siya had called the police and informed them that Ketan had fallen off the cliff while clicking pictures.

“You left me on my birthday… u left when we were so close to getting married. I still can’t understand why you did this to me…,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram stories.

“Why did you leave me when I loved you so much? Rest in peace…,” she added.

For some time, police also believed her story but Ketan’s family grew suspicious as Siya had insisted on celebrating her birthday at Lohagad Fort while Ketan had planned a lavish bash at a local resort.

Also, this was Siya’s second visit to Lohagad in less than a week. On June 14, Siya had visited the fort with Ketan and even tried to kill him but the plan didn’t succeed.

During their earlier visit, Siya allegedly pushed Ketan but he somehow managed to grab a nearby tree. Siya told him that there was a snake and she was trying to save him.

Before that, Siya and Ketan had booked flight tickets for Bali, Indonesia, but she sabotaged the trip by stealing Ketan’s passport and they had to return home from the airport.

After Ketan’s family informed police that they suspected Siya’s role in his death, the police examined CCTV footage and technical evidence, finally unearthing the chilling murder conspiracy.

Meanwhile, Pune Rural Police investigating the chilling murder have made startling claims about the conspiracy hatched by Siya and Chetan.

According to the investigators, Siya and Chetan were in constant touch with each other even after her engagement with Ketan.

The two exchanged over 2,000 phone calls before they allegedly pushed Ketan off a cliff at Lohagad Fort.

The alleged murder conspiracy, investigators believe, may have originated on May 31 when Siya and Ketan first visited Lohagad Fort.

According to investigators, Ketan Agarwal was sitting near the edge of the structure, and this is probably when Siya first conceived the idea of killing him and making it look like an accident.

Police further claim that an initial attempt to execute the alleged plan was made on June 14, when Siya reportedly tried to push Ketan off the fort.

However, after the attempt allegedly failed, she raised a false alarm about spotting a snake and later claimed that he had fallen accidentally during the panic.

Officials further said that prior to the incident, Siya and Chetan allegedly met at a cafe where they discussed the plan and identified possible locations on the fort from where the victim could be pushed.

Investigators have also claimed that Siya Goyal did not want to marry Ketan Agarwal and conspired with her friend Chetan Chaudhary to eliminate him.

The probe further suggests that both accused first met at a Diwali party last year and later developed a close friendship.

The police suspect that Siya allegedly wanted more time for herself and was unwilling to proceed with the marriage despite pressure from her family.

Police further claimed that although Siya had grown close to co-accused Chetan Chaudhary and liked him, she was also not prepared to marry him at present.

Investigators suspect that Siya allegedly wanted to eliminate Ketan Agarwal while continuing her relationship with Chetan Chaudhary.

Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in seven-day police custody till June 29 while further investigation continues. - The Statesman/ANN
