MANILA: More than 40 shells were found at the scene of a school shooting in Tacloban City in the central Philippines on Monday morning (June 22), according to local police.

Eastern Visayas Regional Police Director Brigadier General Jason Capoy said the shooting occurred at around 9 a.m. local time while classes were ongoing at the school.

Capoy said the two alleged gunmen, 15-year-old and 14-year-old students of the school and close friends, used a 9mm Glock pistol and a.38-caliber revolver in the attack.

Among the seven injured victims were four females and three males, he said.

In a statement, Philippine National Police Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez confirmed that 10 people were victims in the shooting, including the three who were killed.

Emergency responders rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals for treatment.
