JEDDAH (Bernama-SPA): The crescent moon marking the beginning of Muharram will be visible across the skies of Saudi Arabia and the Arab world this evening shortly after sunset, appearing low above the western horizon, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Jeddah Astronomy Society Director Majed Abu Zahra said the crescent is expected to be easily visible this evening due to its increasing angular distance from the Sun’s glare, making it stand out more clearly above the western horizon after sunset.
He noted that observers may also notice the faint glow of Earthlight on the dark portion of the Moon’s disk, a phenomenon caused by sunlight reflected from the Earth’s surface onto the Moon, gently illuminating its unlit side. -- BERNAMA-SPA
